Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-0
A great result. They put in hard work all afternoon and looked like a team again. We'd started to show this team ethic at City, and this performance built on it.

We had a system, the players knew what was expected of them, and there was a collective spirit amongst them.

After the 1st 10 minutes weathering the storm after half time we started to become confident and took the game back to them for decent periods.

It was almost like a cloud of doubt in themselves was lifted and the talent shined through.

Very early days of course, but, if we can deliver team spirited performances like this when playing our peer group over the season we will stay up without question.

Moyes? Clearly driven to prove a lot of people within the game wrong about his ability as a manager and if we take advantage of that through our results there's a win:win.

We certainly looked fitter, much better organised and as I've said, spirited as a team.

We've all seen the usual WH '5 minute wonders' many, many times before, lets hope that Moyes can exert enough influence to make the players believe in themselves and create a system of play to let them express themselves properly again.

Credit to Moyes and the team for a great result.

It's clear the players are much more confident, secure in their positions, each individual knows their job and just as importantly knows each other's job too. This is a team that now appears to know what they are meant to be doing on the pitch and it makes a world of difference, long may it continue.

A real uptick in the level of commitment from the players. Antonio looks like he has lost a couple of stone.

I was unsure about Moyes and this is too early to tell, but could fate have thrown us together?

The last two games playing the so called elite sides we have done ourselves proud.A huge improvement few would have expected. There might be something about Moyes,Alex Furgerson saw something about him.
The whole team have stepped up and look up for a fight.Beating Chelsea is exactly what we needed it gives the players a much needed confidence boost.
I for one didn't see such an improvement coming.Fingers crossed.

If you look at the best sides in football it isn't only just the team playing well as a unit, it also requires individuals to step up make a difference too. Well we had that today, and it was very encouraging. Let's see if this continues on Wednesday. Go Moysie!

I didn't want him, but I didn't hate the idea or freak out when he got teh job, but I'm warming to Moyes a lot.

I knew the defence and fitness would improve, but I was heartened at the flair shown at times, at least in the first half, and I was further heartened when he said he would love for us to play more expansive attractive football in time, but rightly says first things first, which is fitness and defence.

Ask me right now, come the end of the season, I would much rather give him and his coaching staff new contracts than ditch them for Rafa Benitez and his team.

The new manager has brought a long overdue professionalism..Irvine in the stands analysing things and relaying information..Pearce the enforcer by his side.

GOOOD STUFF

I'm liking this very much

The players look motivated and believe in their new manager and his staff..

Big test's still ahead..but massive improvements in the players in such a short period.

We worked our socks off for that result today & even Cup of Tea was positive at the end! Anything other than the win would have seen us bottom of the table!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Fair play, we were organised today and defended very well. However, it was a backs to the wall game, we had a few the same under Bilic. Massive credit due, however I'm more interested in how we do in the games against clubs around us, when the onus is on us.

Still, this is a start. No Kouyate meant better movement and passing in midfield, Noble was good, his composure and game management helped us massively, and after taking absolute peters on here, Obiang was superb.

A very evident thing under Moyes, and this is HUGE, we are a lot more cynical, in the best possible sense. Making fouls at the right times, in the right areas, is so important. So many times our players have not made a foul when they're beaten and it's cost us.

Let's hope we give the same effort and desire in the real big games against teams around us.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread FT 1-0
We were different class today and, as poor as Chelsea were, we made them look poor. Our fitness is clearly improving, the work rate was there for all to see but, more surprisingly, the confidence and football played was excellent too. We look like a team who are actually doing things in training. Long may it continue.

Arnautovic has been playing well and was due that goal and Masuaku is a different player in his current role. I’ve seen Noble get more stick on here again today but I thought he played really well and he was calm and composed when required.

An excellent team performance and if we can repeat that every week then we’ll be more than fine.
